Human Rights Day – December 10
Have you heard the term “the social determinants of health” (SDOH)? Some, like our race or ethnicity, language, and our cultural heritage, remain consistent over our lives. Others, like sexual orientation or gender, economic status, home community, ability, age, religion, and educational attainment can shift through our lives.

Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association’s National Grief and Bereavement Day – November 18, 2025
Talking about death is not a norm for us as Canadians. Because of our unfamiliarity with the topic in general, we tend to not know how to integrate loss, making it difficult to process when our lives are touched by it.

August 31 is International Overdose Awareness Day
As we stop to observe International Overdose Awareness Day on August 31, it’s important to remember the person behind the overdose. Overdoses occur when an overwhelming amount of a substance enters the body and overloads the system. Overdoses can happen from prescription drugs, alcohol, recreational drugs, and even herbal remedies. When overdoses occur, the body is deprived of oxygen which eventually shuts down vital organs like the heart and brain.
